More than a school: A December of dialogue, solidarity, and tradition at the Ateneu

At the Ateneu School, we believe that education goes far beyond the classrooms. Educating is sharing, it is empathizing with the environment, and, above all, it is walking together —families, students, and teaching staff—. This December has been the perfect reflection of this philosophy, with a full agenda of events that have strengthened our bonds and our social commitment.

1. The Pedagogical Café: Spaces that build bridges

Fluid communication with families is one of the pillars of our center. Recently, we celebrated a new edition of our Pedagogical Café, where the families of I3, 1st grade, and 1st ESO gathered with the teaching team.

More than a meeting, these gatherings are close and quiet spaces that allow us to:

  • Listen and share concerns in a relaxed environment.

  • Identify improvements for the daily life of students.

  • Build a shared vision of the education of children and youth.

Thanks to the active participation of everyone, we continue to weave a support network that directly benefits the development of our students.

2. Solidarity with La Marató: Educating in Commitment

Values education is demonstrated through actions. This is why the Ateneu community has rallied around La Marató de 3Cat 2025, dedicated this year to cancer research.

In the classrooms, we have worked on raising awareness to understand the impact of this disease, while the students and staff of the center have contributed with charitable donations. We are convinced that teaching to get involved in social causes is the best way to form conscious and committed citizens for a better future.

3. Voices, emotion, and wishes: The Christmas Carol Concert of the Ateneu

There are moments that mark the school calendar, but few are as emotional as our traditional Christmas Carol Concert. This year, the school yard has once again filled with music, transforming into the stage for an unforgettable morning where the students of Primary and 1st year of ESO have been the main protagonists.

Preparing a cantata is not just about learning lyrics; it's an exercise in rehearsal, coordination, and personal growth. The result has been a gift for the senses: a courtyard full of smiles, tuned voices, and, above all, the joy of sharing with families the best wishes for this festive season.

These events remind us that our community is special thanks to the sum of each child and each family. Thank you for joining us and for making music connect us all once again.

And at your home, what is the carol that doesn’t stop playing? Share your Christmas soundtrack with us in the comments!

4. Visits that fill the eyes with illusion: Mag Sadurní and Joana at school

The magic of Christmas has come straight through the door of the Ateneu with a very special visit: Mag Sadurní and Joana have come to see us to tell us the secrets of the most magical journey of the year, that of the Three Wise Men.

The students experienced the encounter with a mix of curiosity and contained excitement. Listening to the details of how Their Majesties prepare to reach all the homes, we could see in the children’s eyes the importance of keeping the fantasy alive.

At school, we believe that preserving this innocence and capacity for surprise is fundamental for happy growth. Feeling the Kings so close helps us live these moments with a unique intensity and to value the tradition from the heart.

What is the moment of the Three Kings night that excites your little ones the most? We love to read your anecdotes!

5. The Tió in Early Childhood: Caring for Our Most Beloved Traditions

If there is a moment that defines the authenticity of Christmas in Early Childhood, it is undoubtedly the day to make the Tió poop. After many days of daily care, bringing him the best fruit peels, and covering him well with a blanket so he wouldn’t be cold, the culminating moment has arrived.

Between songs and energetic stick hits, our Tió has done its job, causing explosions of laughter and surprises among the little ones. Beyond the gifts, this tradition allows us to work on fundamental values:

  • Care: Attention and respect for a being that "visits us".

  • Patience: Knowing how to wait for the right moment to celebrate.

  • Community: Experiencing the collective joy of sharing such a personal tradition.

Seeing how traditions pass from child to child is the best gift we can receive.

And you, what prohibited food do you give to the Tió at home? Tell us your secrets to make him poop more than ever!

Looking to the future

All these experiences remind us that the Ateneu School is a lively and vibrant community thanks to each and every one of you. We thank you for your participation in the coffees, your generosity in solidarity causes, and your presence at every celebration.

And to you, which of these moments touched your heart the most? What topics would you like us to address in upcoming pedagogical coffees? Leave us your comments below!
