Closings and graduations at the Ateneu: celebrating the end of the stage of 2nd year of Baccalaureate and 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education

The end of the school year always brings moments of reflection, assessment, and, above all, a lot of emotion. Last Friday the 29th, the Ateneu School dressed up to celebrate the closing events of two very special promotions: the students of 2nd year of Baccalaureate and those of 4th year of Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO).

Closing a school stage is much more than receiving a diploma; it is the culmination of years of effort, learning, friendships, and personal growth.

2nd year of Baccalaureate: a farewell full of future and new challenges

The graduation of 2nd year of Baccalaureate marks a decisive turning point. After years of dedication, consistency, and intense preparation, our students say goodbye to school to embark on their path towards university, higher vocational training, or the labor market.

• Recognition of effort: A tribute to the sustained effort and maturity demonstrated during a demanding academic stage.

• Shared gratitude: A moment of gathering between students, teachers, and families to thank each other for the mutual support throughout this journey.

• Looking towards the future: The beginning of a new stage full of opportunities, challenges, and dreams to fulfill.

4th of ESO: closing a cycle and opening new horizons

For their part, the students of 4th year of ESO experienced an equally visceral and significant closing ceremony. This course marks the end of compulsory secondary education and opens a stage of important decisions.

While part of this promotion will continue their education at the Ateneu in post-compulsory studies, other students will embark on new educational adventures in other centers. Whatever their destination, all of them leave an indelible mark on the history of our community.

Pride of the educational community

Seeing how those boys and girls who one day entered the school have transformed into prepared, critical, and committed young people is the greatest pride for the entire staff of the Ateneu.

The end of the academic year is always one of the most anticipated moments, intensely experienced by the entire educational community. Our traditional end-of-year party at the Ateneu School once again turned the center into a space for gathering, celebration, and shared joy among young and old.

An afternoon full of positive energy, music, laughter, and reunions that marks the end of months of effort, learning, and collective growth.

The value of community: thank you all

The success of such a special day is the result of teamwork and the combined efforts of all the groups that make up the large family of the Ateneu:

• Families and students: Thank you for your enthusiastic participation, the empathy, and the vitality that give meaning to our educational project.

• AFA and Junta: Thank you for your dedication, coordination, and constant commitment to making every activity and detail of the celebration possible.

• Teaching and support team: Thank you for your tireless work throughout the year and for your daily commitment to the education and well-being of the children.

Time to rest and cherish good memories

After an intense year full of projects experienced with enthusiasm, the time has come to take a break, disconnect from the routine, and enjoy the good weather. The end-of-year celebration leaves us with a backpack full of experiences and memories that will accompany us throughout the summer holidays until we meet again in September.

Intergenerational connection: 4th ESO students share experiences and values with the elderly at the Sophos residence

At the Ateneu School, we firmly believe that education transcends the walls of the classroom. Educating also means shaping empathetic, aware, and committed individuals to their social environment. There are learning experiences that cannot be evaluated in an exam but leave an indelible mark on the personal development of our students.

Recently, the 4th year ESO students took part in one of those special meetings to share a morning of coexistence with the elderly from the Sophos residence.

Dialogue between generations: listening, empathy, and smiles

The meeting turned an everyday space into a magical environment of human connection. Through small conversations, both young and old exchanged stories, laughter, and life reflections that allowed for the construction of a bridge between two generations distant in time, but very close in emotions.

These types of intergenerational initiatives bring profound benefits to both parties:

• Development of empathy: Students learn the value of active listening, patience, and respect for our elders, understanding the richness of their life experience.

• Accompaniment and vitality: For the residents, the visit from the young people represents an injection of energy, companionship, and joy that breaks the daily routine.

Little great artists in I3: how the tactic of poking develops fine motor skills and concentration

In the early stages of Early Childhood Education, every small activity is a great opportunity to discover the world and develop new abilities. In the I3 classroom of the Ateneu School, our students have experienced one of those moments of pure creativity and concentration through a crafts workshop dedicated to creating flowers.

Apparently, punching paper or cardstock to shape a flower may seem like a simple game, but behind this task lies fundamental pedagogical work for the motor and cognitive development of young children.

The benefits of working on fine motor skills in I3

The use of the punch and the support board is one of the classic and most effective tools in the I3 stage. Through this activity, children not only have fun creating their small works of art, but they also work on key skills:

• Control of pressure and eye-hand coordination: Learning to hold the tool with the correct grip and adjusting the force to avoid tearing the paper.

• Encouragement of concentration and patience: Punching along a line requires sustained attention, a measured pace, and a lot of precision.

• Autonomy and care of materials: They learn to be careful with the different materials in the classroom and to value the results of their own efforts.

Creativity and meaningful learning

When children see how their patience transforms into a colorful flower, the feeling of their accomplishment boosts their self-esteem and desire to continue exploring.
